About Psychodynamic Therapy
What is Psychodynamic Therapy?
Psychodynamic (or psychoanalytic) therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on discovering and understanding the deeper drives of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is grounded in the assumption that part of us operates outside our conscious awareness. This framework integrates your history, often from when you were very young, with your current internal world.
When a difficult experience can be pieced together and you can understand how it came to be, you often feel more balanced, sturdy and capable in how you navigate life choices, respond to your emotions and relate to yourself and others.
This therapy is particularly effective for individuals seeking to understand themselves on a deeper level, grow as a person and create long-lasting change.
Psychodynamic therapy can help with:
Depression and anxiety
Relationship difficulties
Trauma and unresolved grief
Chronically low self-esteem
Persistent emotional patterns
Adjusting to life transitions (like entering the workforce, entering a new relationship phase, individuating from your family of origin)
